Our Story
Kj’s Mining & Engineering started in 2009 designing and manufacturing tray bodies for Utes in the Burdekin region.
Shortly after starting Kj’s Mining & Engineering, we started to supply boilermakers to mine sites in the Bowen Basin to maintain open cut mining equipment.
After supplying quality services throughout the years, we saw the opportunity to expand and grow. We now supply all trades and 70 personnel into the mining industry and continue to grow.
Our Goal
Kj’s Mining & Engineering has a range of Key Performance Indicators which are formally monitored at the KJ’s Mining & Engineering Quarterly Management Review meeting.
Improving of internal hazard reporting to
- 1 Hazard report per person per week
- Improving of Near Miss reporting
- 100% compliance with required Task
Observations
- 1 Observation per week by supervisors and Leading Hands
- 100% compliance with reporting of Incidents
- 100% compliance with scheduled Inspections
Monthly Inspections for Equipment as supplied on site
- 100% compliance with scheduled Meetings

Our Leadership
Senior Management provides strong visible leadership and commitment in regards to all matters discussed in this document. This includes visits to site on a quarterly basis throughout which Targets and Objectives are promoted.
Safety, Health and Environmental objectives are monitored and driven at all levels of the organisation. Personnel are provided with development training to be able to fulfill their role effectively.
Promotion and encouragement are supported through our appraisal system and scheduled or unscheduled audits and observations.
Participation, involvement and visible commitment and support to Safety, Health and Environment are seen as essential for the acceptance and development of a proactive work culture.
Where We Operate
Our areas of operation range from Townsville to the southern side of the Bowen Basin where our team can be found on the ground servicing the encompassing mines.
Kj’s Mining & Engineering also have two workshops situated at the following locations:

- 9 Lawrie Road, Coulstan Park QLD 4737
We are also expanding our service areas to include Western Australia to facilitate the growth and expansion that Kj’s Mining & Engineering is currently experiencing.
Our Team
Kj’s Mining & Engineering employ over 70 personnel in the mining industry. This includes trade qualified and fully equipped Boilermakers, Mechanical Fitters, Fabricators, Trades Assistants, Experienced Supervisors, EWP Operators, Forklift Operators and more.
Our team is experienced in dump truck bucket re-builds, dump truck tray re-builds, re-line crushing plants, plant shut downs, shed construction, machinery updates, fabrications, detailed drawings and more.

With a fully equipped workshop in the Burdekin which has the facilities to complete a range of offsite work, this allows us to complete any work which cannot be done onsite.
